Let's Try This Again...

As everyone close to our family knows, we suffered a miscarriage in April. I'm not exactly sure at what point I "lost" my pregnancy, but I was apprised of the situation at my first prenatal appointment, which was at 10 weeks. I'm officially pregnant for the second time this year, and although we've heard the little bitty heartbeat and seen the belly bean twice, I can't help but feel apprehensive until I pass that 10 week mark. I'm really hoping that after my appointment with Dr. Jones next week I'll finally be able to breathe easy with the knowledge that everything is a-okay. It will be a nice break to worry about whether my baby is going to continue growing that gigantic freak-head she's (I think it's a girl, Matt refuses to even consider it as a possibility) been working on so far. Oh well, like father, like daughter!

Our Trip to Utah

Almost two months ago, we were lucky enough to go visit Matt's sister and her family in West(?) Jordan, UT. Having been unable to actually spend time with them for a couple of years, we felt blessed to be able to visit while Matt's brother Dan was also there (with his foster dog-daughter, Samantha). The kids were so happy to get to see their cousins (although Anna and William struggled to get along), and Roxie even got to play with her puppy cousin, Trixie! The kids had a "slumber party" in the basement, and Emily figured out how to get Roxie to prance on her hind legs.
After 3 days of relaxing and enjoying the company of our family, we weren't exactly looking forward to the drive home. Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on your perspective), we had some amazing storms the whole way home. Everyone was exhausted, but Roxie was the only one who managed to sleep through all of the thunder and pouring rain.

P.S. Now I know for future reference that I need to upload the pictures in the opposite order I want them posted!! :-)

Moon-Walking to Heaven (maybe?)

Having just created this thing yesterday, I planned on starting it off tonight by writing about our recent family trip to Utah. However, with the recent news of the devastating loss of Michael Jackson, I decided I must pay my respects...

So goodbye, old friend, we will miss you, as we will miss all long-gone creepy celebrity attention-whores. The children of the world will all sleep a little easier tonight.
